#NewsToKnow: Happy Medical Staff, 50K S/Ns, & Badly Drawn Pets

Big shout outs to all our friends who participated in World Spay Day, officially celebrated this past Tuesday. That includes the Spayathon team for hitting the 50,000th surgery milestone in Puerto Rico! (And way to go, ViDAS, for spaying, neutering, and vaccinating 778—no, that’s not a typo!—cats and dogs in a single day.)

Saved the dates yet? Our 2020 Spring Conference will be held June 3-5 in Chicago. New this year: Field Services & Shelter Med tracks! More details to come, and this should get you pumped in the meantime.

What makes you and your colleagues so amazing: Your willingness to share ideas and help each other, as evidenced by Wisconsin Humane Society’s Badly Drawn Pets fundraising campaign, launched earlier this week and inspired by a similar campaign across the country.

“We’ll deflect all that brilliance right to BARCS Animal Shelter, who came up with the concept several months ago and kindly provided guidance as we started planning some hilarity of our own,” says WHS.

The secret to keeping your medical staff happy? Join us on March 11 at 3 ET and find out. (Spoiler alert: You’ll get practical, cost-saving tips for recruiting, staff retention, and alternative work schedules.)

Inspo from our friends at Humane Society Naples: Their Rescue Recess program offers folks the opportunity to take a dog out of the shelter environment and on a field trip around town. These engaging community outreach ideas make lifesaving efforts so much fun!
