At the start of the pandemic, animal shelters focused on moving homeless pets out, clearing space for the pets of the sick and deceased who had no other place to go. Now as hurricane season and raging wildfires bring new issues to the forefront, the goals have changed.
Kim Alboum is the Shelter Outreach and Policy Development Director at BISSELL Pet Foundation. Previously with the HSUS as North Carolina State Director and then Director of Shelter Outreach and Policy Engagement, Kim has spent 12 years in animal welfare, creating nationwide partnerships that resulted in the placement of thousands of animals who were victims of cruelty and natural disasters. Currently, Kim oversees the BISSELL Pet Foundation National Shelter Alliance in partnership with Code 3 and Associates, which works to support and empower animal shelters through mentorship, cruelty and disaster response.
