Update: Portalmania 2020

Spoiler alert: Even more portals for even more cats!

Back in early May, Million Cat Challenge (MCC), founded in 2014 with a gift from Maddie’s Fund, launched the Portalmania 2020 giveaway with a goal of providing 1,500 portals to shelters when animal inventory in North America was at an all-time low. The lifesaving (and roomier digs for shelter kitties!) continues, thanks to the generous support of industry partners. #Portalmania2020 announced yet another set of winners last Friday, with 714 more portals for 38 shelters. That brings the grand total to 3,400 portals going to 120 shelters!

And they don’t call it Portalmania for nothing. MCC has partnered with GreaterGood.org to continue fundraising for yet more portals. “We can’t promise we’ll be able to fund every application,” says MCC’s Mandy Newkirk, “but we can promise we’re going to give it all we’ve got! Shor-Line’s incredible offer to match every gift raised has made it impossible to walk away and call this campaign finished. We’re so inspired by their generosity, that we’ll keep going until every stone has been turned.”

You can visit MCC for the list of shelters that have already been awarded portals and those that are still waiting for a gift to fund their application. And if you’d like to support MCC’s efforts, please donate and/or spread the word about Portalmania 2020
