Dear Friends & Colleagues,
We know how invested you are in making animal welfare a more equitable and diverse profession. We are right there with you. In order to make meaningful change, we have to thoroughly understand the current state of DEI in our field. To help us establish a baseline, The Association’s DEI Committee is launching a historic, first-of-its-kind survey on Tuesday, June 1. The results will help inform the vision and strategy of the work that lies ahead. Foundations and funders will be increasingly interested in this type of data and how organizations are addressing DEI.
In order to get the most complete picture, we need to hear from everyone working in animal welfare. We’re going to need you and ALL of your team members to complete this survey – from front line animal care staff and field officers to fundraising staff, adoption counselors, managers and board members.
Can I ask you to make a formal pledge that you and your teams will complete the survey? If we can count on you, take the pledge. This data doesn’t exist anywhere—yet. You can be a part of history by completing the survey.
P.S. We’ll be presenting qualitative results from other aspects of our DEI research on June 8 at The Spring Conference for Animal Welfare Advancement. Here’s how to register if you haven’t already done so.
